Singulair is medicine for treatment and prevention of asthma. It helps with runny nose from allergy. But it cannot be used for an acute asthma attack.
Inform your doctor if you have any of these conditions:
• phenylketonuria
• liver disease
• pregnant or trying to get pregnant
• breast-feeding
• an allergic reaction to Singulair
You should take this medicine with or without food and with water. You should take this tablet each day at the same time. Do not overtake this medicine. If you think that you have taken too much of this medicine, call emergency room at once.
Do not share Singulair with other persons. If you forget your dose, try to take it as soon as possible, but do not take double doses. If you are going to give it your children, consult with your pedicatrician first.
Next drugs can interact with Singulair:
• paclitaxel
• carbamazepine
• phenytoin
• rosiglitazone
• phenobarbital
• rifampin
• repaglinide
• rifabutin
It is not all possible interactions. Tell your medicine care specialist about nutritional supplements, non-prescription drugs and dietary supplements. Tell your doctor if you use illegal drugs, drink alcohol or smoke. It will help your specialist to check if it can interact with Singulair. Consult with your doctor if you are going to stop or to start taking these pills.
You should visit your doctor for checks regularly. If your symptoms of asthma or allergy do not change, tell your doctor about it. Do not stop taking Singulair till your doctor tells you to stop. If you have asthma, always have rescue medicine for asthma attacks with yourself. Talk with your doctor about acute asthma attack.
Possible side effects, talk with your doctor immediately:
• sinus pain
• allergic reactions
• yellowing of the eyes
• dark urine
• fever or infection
• flu-like symptoms
• painful lumps under the skin
• breathing problems
• suicidal thoughts
• unusual bruising
Possible side effects, which do not require medical care:
• drowsiness
• cough
• dizziness
• headache
• trouble sleeping
• stomach upset
• stuffy nose
Keep your children out of the reach of this medicine. Keep Singulair between 59 and 86 degrees F (15 and 30 degrees C) tightly closed. Do not use it after the expiration date. Protect from light.
