Indocin is medicine for treatment of rheumatoid arthritis, ankylosing spondylitis, osteoarthritits, gout and tendonitis. It is NSAID (non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug).
Inform your doctor, if you have:
• liver disease
• asthma
• depression
• high blood pressure
• kidney disease
• pregnant or trying to get pregnant
• breast-feeding
• Parkinsons disease
• seizures
• heart disease
• stomach bleeding
• an allergic reaction to Indocin
You should take this medicine with food and with water. You should keep regular intervals between doses. Do not overtake Indocin. If you think that you have overtaken this medicine, call emergency room at once.
If you are going to use Indocin on children, consult with your doctor first. Some precautions needed. Do not give this medicine to other persons. If you forget to take your regular dose, try to take it as soon as possible. But do not take double doses.
Indocin cannot be taken with these drugs:
• ketorolac
• methotrexate
• cidofovir
• triamterene
• diflunisal
• pemetrexed
Additionally it can interact with:
• antacids
• alcohol
• aspirin
• drugs that affect platelets
• diuretics
• cyclosporine
• drgus for diabetes
• digoxin
• drugs that prevent blood clots
• lithium
• steroid drugs
• probenecid
• drugs for high blood pressure
• NSAIDs
It is not all possible interactions. Tell your medicine care specialist about nutritional supplements, non-prescription drugs and dietary supplements. Tell your doctor if you use illegal drugs, drink alcohol or smoke. It will help your specialist to check if it can interact with Indocin. Consult with your doctor if you are going to stop or to start taking these pills.
If your pain does not get better, talk with your doctor. Do not treat yourself.
If you get drowsy or dizzy, do not use machinery or drive. Because this medicine can affects on you. Additionally do not drink alcohol, because it will increase your bad state.
Indocin makes you more easily bleed. Do not hurt yourself.
Possible side effects, inform your doctor at once:
• bloody stools
• unexplained weight gain
• blood in the urine
• unusually tired
• blurred vision
• allergic reactions
• difficulty breathing
• nausea
• slurred speech
• chest pain
Possible side effects which do not require medical care:
• heartburn
• dizziness
• diarrhea
• headache
Keep your children out of the reach of this medicine. Keep Indocin between 59 and 86 degrees F (15 and 30 degrees C) tightly closed. Do not use it after the expiration date.
