Diflucan is medicine for treatment fungus infections which can be in any part of the body: in genital area, in blood, in throat, in mouth, lungs, bladder, esophagus. It is an antifungal antibiotic.
Inform your doctor if you have any of these:
• kidney disease
• electrolyte abnormalities
• pregnant or trying to get pregnant
• irregular heart beat
• an allergic reaction to Diflucan or its components
• breast-feeding
Usually this medicine is taken by mouth. You should take it by regular intervals and not more often than it is prescribed. If you are going to use it in children, contact with your doctor first. Additional precautions will be needed. Do not overtake Diflucan. If you suppose that you had overtaken it, call emergency room at once. If you forget to take the dose, take your next dose as soon as possible. Do not use double doses. And do not share this medicine with other persons.
Do not take Diflucan the same time with cisapride, red yeast rice, pimozide.
Diflucan also can interact with next medicines:
• phenytoin
• birth control pills
• warfarin
• cyclosporine
• rifabutin
• diuretics
• pills for diabetes
• rifampin
• pills for high cholesterol
• ramelteon
• terfenadine
• tacrolimus
• theophylline
Inform your medicine specialist if you smoke, use illegal drugs or drink alcohol. Provide him with information about herbs, nutritional supplements, dietary supplements, non-prescription drugs if you use it. It will help your specialist to check if it can interact with Diflucan. Consult with your doctor if you are going to stop or to start taking Diflucan pills.
It is better not have sex until you have ended your treatment, if you have some vaginal infection. Wear not synthetic panties. And you can wear a sanitary napkin.
Alcohol increase damage to your liver. Do not drink alcohol during the time when you use Diflucan.
Additionally visit your doctor for regular checks. Inform your doctor if your symptoms are not getting better. Sometimes it requires long time for treatment.
Possible side effects, inform your doctor immediately:
• dark urine
• trouble breathing
• vomiting
• allergic reactions
• yellowing of the eyes or skin
• feeling faint
• chest pain
• redness of the skin
• unusual bleeding
Next possible side effects do not require medical attention:
• headache
• stomach upset
• changes in how food tastes
• diarrhea
This list may not describe all possible side effects.
You should store this medicine below 86 degrees F (30 degrees C) tightly closed. If the expiration date passed, do not use such tablets. And keep your children out of the reach of Diflucan.
